"Luft und Liebe" ( "Air and Love" ) refers to the style of this wine and the care that goes into making it. Grapes from one of Martin's oldest vineyards, north facing and therefore a little later ripening, are carefully selected and hand picked before being macerated for 72 hours with skins intact. Fermentation is in clay followed by an oxidative ageing process in small old oak barrels and then an absolutely minimal dose of SO2. Plenty of exposure to the air results in lots of broad, oxidative flavours, with herbs, citrus fruit pith and peel to the fore. Real breadth on the palate and a completely different wine to Martin's regular Gruners. If you like orange wine you will love this!
